BIM has become standard in the construction industry, and Transbay Fire Protection is no exception. We use virtual three-dimensional models to coordinate our sprinkler systems with the work of other subcontractors to identify and resolve potential issues before fabrication and installation.
Transbay Fire Protection was the first major fire sprinkler contractor in California to use three-dimensional design exclusively. We have been designing fire protection systems in 3-D since 1999.
The further along in the process issues are discovered, the more problematic they become to resolve. BIM Modeling avoids constructability issues in the field by coordinating systems to promote a problem-free installation. By creating a clash-free model, BIM saves both time and money over the course of a project.
We use Revit software to produce consistent, coordinated, and complete model-based building designs and documentation. Revit automatically updates floor plans, elevations, sections, and 3-D views, using three-dimensional visualizations to see a building before it’s built. Revit includes tools for architectural design, MEP and structural design, detailing, and engineering. With Revit, contributors across all disciplines use work sharing to share and save work to the same project.
As the process proceeds, we manage the coordination with other subcontractors by using NavisWorks. The software offers project review software to improve BIM, combining design and construction data into a single model. This enables us to identify clashes with other building systems before construction
We use AutoCAD to create and edit precise three-dimensional drawings and models, no matter the material being used. We annotate these drawings with text, dimensions, leaders, and tables.
We often begin our process by building the fire suppression systems using AutoSPRINK. AutoSPRINK is Computer Aided Design Systems, including standalone applications and add-on applications in AutoCAD and Revit.
Procore is a construction management platform. It connects all people, software, and data on one platform, so everyone on our project has access to everything anyone needs.
BIM 360 Glue is a BIM collaboration software. It conducts constructability review processes on the job site or in the office, identifies costly issues during pre-construction, and creates multi-discipline coordination with clash resolution workflows.
This software coordinates and accelerates the construction design review process. Multidisciplinary teams can quickly identify and resolve costly issues prior to construction with clash resolution workflows and shared coordination spaces.
PlanGrid allows us to access all project information from wherever we are, from plans and specifications, to punch lists, documents, and photos. It also allows us to instantly distribute plans and documents that are automatically hyperlinked, versioned in order, and easily searchable with full sheet search.
